Thanks for the link yesterday.

So, the the problem goes this way. God cannot be all powerful and all good, because evil exists. If He were all powerful and all good, He would eliminate evil. But evil still exists. So God must be powerless to do something about the evil (although He is good and would like to), or he is an all powerful ogre, with no desire to eliminate evil, which is why he does not. I’m tracking with you and KJ here, right? I realize this is what every freshman philosophy major learns, but it’s been a while since I was a Freshman and I have never been a philosophy major.

My problem with the discussion is that I feel both these sorry deities are idols -- the triune God of the Bible is all powerful, and infinitely holy and good. But I guess the point of the cast is not to discuss the way a scriptural understanding of God resolves this problem of evil. It just seems the view of God propogated in the discussion is extremely quaint and very simple. At this point the vague generalities and time space analogies are too weak to build a convincing argument for God as the cosmic sadist.

But I am interested,

I like this podcast, I have heard this stuff before but it is a nice overview. You guys should do the problem of Love to try and disprove altruism. People should check out my Thought section on my blog: http://thejist.info
